Homemade Jam (with no added sugar)

This recipe is pure genius! Using chia seeds to make a gel and then blending together with whatever fruit you like. It’s super quick and easy, a must must try!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup chia seeds
  • 500g bag frozen berries (I used orchard gold mix with blueberries, black currents and raspberries)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Method

Soak the chia seeds in the water for 10 minutes

Put the berries into a food processor (I always use my amazing Kenwood Multipor Excel for this)

Add the chia seed gel mix and the vanilla extract to the food processor…

Blend and it’s done!!

Serving and storing…

Ideal for use wherever you use jam, or you can layer up with yoghurt as I have done in the photo!!

It won’t last as long as sugary jams, so you can make and freeze into smaller portions or have some for spreading and make healthy desserts or snacks with the rest!

Optional: If you aren’t used to something that’s not very sweet, you can add a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (but this of course means it does have added sugar so less is best!)
